In addition, Republican candidates have been successful in some local races, such as the election of John Cook to the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors in 2019. At the state level, Fairfax County is represented by several Republican legislators, including State Senator Chap Petersen and Delegate Tim Hugo. In addition, Congressman Rob Wittman, who represents Virginia's 1st Congressional District, which includes parts of Fairfax County, is a Republican.
